First of all, congratulations to all the winners! We thought that two GT-Rs would take the podium in the GT500 class, but it turns out that three NSX-Rs were placed in second, third and fourth! Petronas’ TOM’S Lexus Soarer was in 6th place, behind the HIS Advan Kondo GT-R. It was rather sad that the WedsSport IS350 was placed in second after a surprise comeback by the I.M Jihan Co. LTD/Apple Shiden, but our own locally-sponsored M7 Mutiara Motors RE Amemiya RX-7 took the third place, so that’s a form of retribution! We’re still sorting out the images for Sunday’s race, so do check back tomorrow night (Monday night) for a full report! Before that, here are a few choice images from the event, with more to come your way!

Above; Spectators at the start of the race getting their shots of the cars while they are in formation. FYI, Super GT employs a rolling start, so this is a one-time opportunity to see such a formation! In pole position is the eventual winner, the Tomica GT-R.

The day started when we met 180 cars gathering for a convoy down to the SIC. Here are some images of the convoy, with descriptions coming in the full report!

Gathering at the Yokohama booth in the mall area, we were kept waiting for about 15 minutes for these men;

None other than Nobuteru Taniguchi from the M7 Mutiara Motors team and Max Orido from the WedsSport team, these guys are accomplished drifters as well, rising from touge addicts to top-class racers.

One of the winners for the Aston Martin Cup Asia. The baby Vantages look as if they have taken a beating from their headmistress at school, or something.

Kazuki Hoshino from the S Road MOLA Z team. They eventually managed to gain fourth place after being harassed (in an outstanding way) out of pole by the WedsSport team.

Here’s Taniguchi again. Immense respect for the guy who drifted his AE86 on a dark mountain road only to have a minor crash because he was wearing Timberland boots! (which got stuck in the accelerator!)

The GT300 machines tearing up the track……well, mostly.

The racing was close and furious. Drivers are known to flash their lights at slower cars, asking them to get the hell out of their way. Cilok-ing skills are top class when you have to swerve in between slower cars at speeds in excess of 280km/h!

Super GT’s poster boy since the day of the Japan GT. It must be a Nissan (top of the range model, preferably), more likely to have a GT-R moniker, and must be sponsored by Motul/Autech or at least Motul. Too bad it didn’t win, but it made a very strong comeback in 8th place when it started a lap behind everyone!!!

This was the preliminary dogfight between the WedsSport IS350 and the S Road MOLA Z. The Z was slightly faster than the IS350 on the straights but the driver at the time (we are not sure who) has immense balls.

GT-R > F430? Hell yes, if one is a GT300 car and the other is a GT500 car!

Watch out for it!

We were in Ipoh recently for a wedding reception, and while this may be no surprise to our Ipoh-mali readers, but this Smart ForTwo simply screams wackiness thanks to its paintjob and Simpsons theme. Parked just outside a closed shop, we applaud the owner for his (or her) painstaking attention to detail, down to the mini-me version of itself! This side features Homer and Marge sharing a strand of spaghetti, reminding us of one Disney pooch movie. More pics after the break.

The other side of this ForTwo shows the Simpsons kids; the paintjob is great, given that the characters themselves aren’t that complex, and yes, the whole car was airbrushed down to the standard Smart rims. Santa’s Little Helper seems out of place though, his head is hanging from nowhere, a chimney perhaps?

Since there’s an emblem on the hood stating ‘Lek Spray’, it’s safe to say that the owner of this car might be the spray shop owners themselves. Note the color-coordinated aircond ducts and even wipers! This Smart laughs at rusted wiper arms!

Rounding up the attention to details are it’s mini-me version of the car, which has the same snazzy paintjob albeit some details were missing, like the colored wiper arms, ducts and characters…..

This ZAP electric truck certainly looks like a Perodua Rusa with a flatbed for hauling goods; and since Perodua has yet to replace the ageing Rusa platform, can we have at least a green alternative to other light trucks available on the market right now?

Hi all, its been a while since the last posting, and after two days of being offline, here’s our new look! The site is still being worked on as we engage in a roadtrip down the world of automotive blogging, and expect to see some changes happening as time passes by. Also debuting with the new look is a new logo to go with it. It may seem quite restrictive as model/make goes, but then again, it also represents a true ’slow car’, one that was destined to be a boring commuter from point A to B with a small engine which cringes in fear at the sight of elevations and hills. Then again, our other choices included a flying washing machine and a turtle with wheels for heels and a fart cannon. Maybe we’ll change it to the fart cannon, who knows?
