  • Events; SIC Open Track Day CNY Special – Part 1: From the Pit Lane

Posted on February 3rd, 2009 kev No comments

We’re still in the CNY mood, shamefully, but we’ve lined up something special over the coming week for all of you craving for an update; two track days, one invitational and a host of other images of cool cars in action. Last weekend was a blast, especially if you were at the Sepang International Circuit and not stuck in the ‘Balik Rumah’ jams :P There were more than 70 cars at one time, either in the pits or on the track itself, leading to some spectacular corner entries where six or seven cars at one time would attempt to pass each other at the corners!

What What yo! That particular workshop was represented by three cars that day, all of ‘em sideways monkeys.

A Kelisa turbo (possibly a K3VET) and two other monsters doing minor adjustments before the start of the session.

“Oh hai, Integra”, says the 400whp monster.

Tire pressures are of utmost importance before one goes out; remember to measure while them tires are still cold!

A stock 530i! What a brave driver, this man is! Accidents, however, were minor on that day. Most of the disruptions came from inexperienced drivers spinning out at turns 7 and 14, according to one trackside marshal.

There were many Zs last weekend; here’s just a couple of them :D

Dressed in shocking yellow, this Starlet was already on the track when we arrived.

An immaculate SW20 was in the pit lane next to where we set up shop.

A track-attack Altezza, complete with rollcage and the comforts of a racecar took its time on the track.

Nopes, this pristine GS400 did not go out on track, even if its a supercruising luxury car like the 530i.

Another shot of the GTR in the lead-on picture, ganas!!

Nice stance on the Kelisa, its rather fast for a K-car as well.

Doing minor checks on a track car is a must if you want to get everything right and have a bucket load of fun!

Can you spot some of the oddballs in this image? :P

Two GTis cutting the queue at the start of the session.

Rarely seen on the street, this AWD, fire-breathing people’s car is able to outrun the FD2R any time of the day!

This track-only CRX has the loudest fartcannon in Malaysia, in a very nice way!

Aggressively bodykitted Putra on the prowl.

400 horses on tap. Sleek body with no wing. URAS bodykit (?). Nice.

CTR with side decals ala GT3? Do Want.

From the UDM owner’s club, an E36!

From the depths of the pits, a monster Porsche arises. No, its not something from Rauh Welt though.

Another Starlet Turbo awaiting to be unleashed!

A close-up of the 997 Turbo. He did not get the optional ceramic brake upgrade though.

Its companion, a Carrera 4S is stock enough to be driven back to where it came from in comfort!

Avantech’s track car, complete with skull-and-crossbones on the front bumper XD

Brothers in arms – these Hondas have some form of track pedigree in them.

Oi, concentrate on your driving la, brother! LOL

Pit side, after a couple of runs – most of the cars regularly came in to cool off their brakes and engines.

Panda color scheme + RS Watanabe wheels = epic classic!

We thought the shot looks nice :D

This SL500 was parked behind the pit lanes. What a silent statement of power. Notice the badge?

Something was wrong with this car’s lower arm or knuckle; it was left on its wheel for the remainder of the session.

A31 headlights on a Wira. I somehow prefer the stock look instead!

A controversial engine; 4AGE silvertop with ITBs or SP4H with ITBs? From this angle, they look the same! Props to the crew who did the conversion though, the stock engine mounts were used. That’s all for now folks, check out the site later, we’re going to turn 1 and 2 for some action shots!
