I love the S2000 lines, I simply do
It seems that the Internet is back up, and here are the rest of the images we’ve promised you. So, after a short tour of the pits, the single seater cars were then returning to them to allow the open track day participants onto the SIC. Some of the more gung-ho participants were led out of the track bya few Subarus, one of which immediately spun out of the track after the second corner and crashed out. Unfortunately, we were not there to witness it, but that caused several red lights to appear and cause this pileup;

A traffic jam in SIC? Who knew?
This was the atmosphere at the pits right after that 10 minute holdup. To the owner of the Subaru who crashed out, no tire is godlike in the wet, so relax, dood! That said, the Mini Challenge racer was extremely fast during the session; Djan was overtaking almost everyone in the corners! Check out some images of the Sapura Auto-backed car in action.

Its first run along the straight at full whack

Check out the aero kit on the Mini. Its minimalist, but does it job really good - the car was stuck to the wet tarmac as if it has glue as its tires

A cockpit full of seriousness. I get ticklish when I see the retro dials combined with its race meters and removeable steering. IIRC the mini sports a fullbucket FIA spec Cobra driver's seat and a halon system as well!

Mini gets thrown into the last hairpin at high speed on Michelin wet tires. Minimal camber at maximum grip - a surprisingly great combinaton in the wet
Back to the action on the track. Right after the Scooby crash, two participants bumped into each other while braking for the first corner. While this is part and parcel of motorsports which is unavoidable, drivers (especially first-timers) should take it cooly on their first few laps.

AE86 kisses......................

........Satria Neo
After this small hiccup, everyone was called back to the track as officials had to clear up the Scooby’s accident and there was quite a wait until the wreck was cleared off. In the meanwhile, we spotted a few interesting cars lining up in the lane…..

EVO! Not Wiralution!

Sorry, I had to increase the saturation on this S2000. Its just too lovely!!!!!

Wow, is that a C200 wih AMG stuff?

We like to call this the white knight, too bad it's under a new facelift program

Can somebody please tell this JZA80 driver that KLIA is just nearby?
This Supra has virtually NO exhaust rumble, while its wastegate shrill echoed across the grandstands.....
Meguiar's show car?

This is not a wolf in a sheepskin. Its a Genuine Vios E-Spec!!!

A wolf true and true, down to its matte black paintjob

Anybody home??? All the cars seem to have come out and play....
While the cars were out on running on their warm-up lap, we saw a few interesting scenes in the pit….

Everybody rushing to the retainer wall once they heard cars revving up the back straight

Awwwww missing daddy already?

Many photographers were on track that day, including us!

So, the cars passed the last hairpin with a few AWD and RWD vehicles sliding about on the wet tarmac, as they zoomed past us, here are the shots we got.

Mighty fine CRX

Ini barulah abang dan adik!!

Go T.Djan Go! He was slightly slow on the straights, but was untouchable in the corners....

A fast AE111 Levin

This Neo was paranoid for hitting someone

Another Honda VTEC-ing down the straight

When I was looking at the thumbnail and thinking of a witty description, I thought this was another Vios with some extreme bodykit. Sorry!

A stock-looking Satria buzzing down with regular street tires!

Who said the AD07 does not perform that well in the wet?

Insane speed. Period.

Whoohoooo Evo 8!

Lotus' Elise also made an appearance. This particular one spun out in front of several cars at the hairpin!

Airtrek Turbos were understeering all over the track, this white one also made an offroad excursion onto the grass later.

The mysterious R32 making its rounds.

White scooby has almost the same appeal as a white Evo

Another fast AWD tearing down the track

Hypertune's Julian Pang in a Redline - sponsored Wira
After these few shots, we headed to the turn 1 and 2 complex, catching some nice shots when drivers slowed down and bunched together in the middle of the turn….

Check out what's in the background

The ZTH Smart Roadster buzzing around the track in its 700cc turbocharged engine....

An E46 Special Edition beemer on the track!

Oi! Concentrate on your driving lah!

Civic EK making sure that its double wishbones work

Another Neo dude not concentrating on his driving....tsk tsk

UNDARSTEEEERRRRR!!! It happens on properly balanced cars if the driver's input isn't smooth and proper into a corner.

Its profile is to die for though. Its on sale now, if you know where to find it

Godzilla at rest still looks like....Godzilla!!!!

F20C power, 9000rpm redline magic at the tap of the throttle!!
So after a short rest, we headed out to the other end of the track, near the complex of banking turns and uphill switchbacks. It was quite surprising that nobody spun out that many times as the AE86 coupe, although the wet conditions wasn’t favorable to many participants.

Wheeeee look at that Scooby go! Check out the puff of smoke coming out at the rear end!

Godzilla during one of his rounds - the GTR35 seems to be taking track abuse VERY well, even if the owner wasn't pushing it to the limits

Passing a paricipant on the left, the AE111 meets the Broquet Putra

The scary AE86 coupe....powered by Swiss Cakes!!

Promote-kitted Wira coming back to the pits

DC2 in the open spaces of the track

Somehow I love the offbeat color of the Scooby - and its small wing. Cute!

The S203 chasing after a genuine M5

GTi leading this rag-tag pack!

Another AE86 decides its time to show the FF and AWD people how its done round the hairpin!

1.6l vs 1.6l, but definitely, one's faster in this corner.

Whooooosh goes this Supra's downpipe! Check out those curves!

The Broquet-sponsored Putra....was having a bad day with traction..

A classic Evo-Scooby battle taking place on the track. Who won? The Evo by the end of the straight....

The two monsters prowling the track were called in for playing naughty....NOT!

An S15 from across the Straits also took part in the track day

They were just too happy to see a fat dude in a pink shirt and a skinny dude with slippers on

Another impromptu battle in progress

Two EKs and a GTi attacking a corner
I guess these are the money shots
A three-way battle for second spot behind the DC2!!!

Track EK on the run!

The inner soul of this AE86 is a Bimmer E46....

Another look at the V10-powered M5!

Tecque spotted again!!!
The session ended around 5pm, almost four hours from its start. 45 minutes before it ended, a major accident happened to the White Knight as it brakes locked up during the entry into turn 4, making it steer into one of the Armco barriers.

Kids, beware!
Damage was localized to the front of car, with no damage to the chassis. Its oil cooler piping was damaged and so was the radiator, leaking engine oil and coolant when it stopped. While devastated, the owner is safe and the car is now undergoing treatment. Now, who stole his rear number plate?
See you all next time at another track day!3 responses to “Events; SIC Open Track Day Hari Raya Haji Special! – Part 2”
