Naturally caused by the amount of traffic passing by the area, oil slicks are the product of (but not limited to) leaking oil pan gaskets, blow-by from your oil catch tanks as well as byproducts of burning engine oil via leaking piston rings. This particular slick was spotted near Eastin hotel during a traffic holdup after yesterday’s downpour, and measured well over a kilometer. Even if you have the best tires on, there is no recovery from spinning out or crashing into something else if there’s oil on the road. Drive safe!
